Sentenced to Die

August 4th, 2015

As an American citizen I am a firm believer of justice. Those who commit malicious crimes should be given a punishment that is reasonable with the crime that has been committed. Sometimes prison is just not enough. People can still see their families, potentially make new friends, and take advantage of the multiple programs offered by prisons. Like 31 of the states left, I am pro death penalty. The death penalty isn’t just to kill those who committed violent crimes. It is to bring closure to the families of those affected.

In recent months and years we have had some tragedies occur in our country. From the bombing at a Boston marathon, to shootings at movie theatres. Crime is getting worst and worst and the fear of punishment is deteriorating. The death penalty is needed to send the message that certain acts will not be tolerated. Evidence proves that the enforcement of the penalty is causing less violent crimes and dropping the rates of those executed by the penalty as the years past. It’s a valuable asset that our justice system has. With people like James Holmes on in our society how else should be punished? And the families affected by the crimes. The execution of criminals the commit crimes not only benefit society but also helps the families cope with the pain of their losses.

Crime is getting worst in America daily. Children growing up are becoming less afraid of prisons and the sentences that come along with the crime but in the back of their heads is always the fact that if things get too serious and violent they could end up with the death penalty. The death penalty acts as the punishment for the scum of society. Those who have no regards for anyone other than themselves and commit malicious acts deserve to be sentenced to death if that’s what the crime they committed calls for. So yes, if someone was to ask I am pro death penalty. It’s just some people who shouldn’t be allowed to walk another day on this earth after the acts they have committed. So, which one are you for?

  1. Great topic. Very controversial. I don’t believe that giving a convicted felon the death penalty brings closure to a family. The family is not reaping anything from a long sentence of their suspect. Just because someone committed a violent act, that doesn’t mean they deserve the death penalty. No one deserves to die. Instead, the prosecutors should give the suspects a sentence that is understandable. Ex. I think that James Holmes should get life in prison. He doesn’t deserve to be killed.
